I'm encountering a lot of worm and squid guard lately. If I can't shut down the grips, it's a game of distance management some frustration. To me it seems like stage one of any pass is owning grips and defeating theirs.
Agreed! And I also do what you mentioned, "distance management". I relax my body and sort of go with their push/pull. That takes a lot of their leverage away. Then I back off and slowly work the problem out.
